DescriptionAnother ‘80’s pick up from a book I enjoyed when I was a kid! This is the 1st of 2 consecutive pages I picked up from this issue, Ron Lim’s only published work on Daredevil. This was a single issue story introducing the character Bengal – I liked his unique origin and always thought the art in this issue was great. It was realistic yet still cartoony, and the action sequences killed. When I saw these 2 pages up at Romitaman.com, I jumped at ‘em.Here the agility of the new character is on display, as well as the artists’ nice use of shadow. I really like that bottom left radar sense panel followed by the caption in the next – “he doesn’t realize he’s making it easy for me.” Pretty cool. Click one page over to see what happens next! Thanks, Mike. And, I've included an image of the cover to this issue - if anyone's got a lead, let me know! Social/Sharing |

Gorgeous pages! I fondly remember reading Bengal's various appearances in DD, Marvel Comics Presents and New Warriors many years ago. Ron Lim is one of those artists who can draw any type of book and make it look great. Congrats!

Congrats!Travis - I thought you'd get a kick out of this page with that nice Karate Kid vs. Bengal piece you have by Ramos! And yep, Ron Lim is the man. Thanks for the comments, all!

My favorite page of the two. I also loved this issue which left a mark on my young reader's mind. I also find it featured some of Lim's stronger art.

Totally agree regarding the impact on our young minds! A more serious story, with a unique intro for a new “bad” guy, and I thought the art throughout was great. Like you say, some of Lim’s best stuff. Thanks for the comment!

What? Niiiiiiiiiiiiice! Fill in issues were often duds, but I think anyone collecting and reading Daredevil at this time had to have appreciated this one, especially if you were already reading and a fan of the Silver Surfer book at the time. To see Lim fill in during the great Romita Jr. run was a gas. Just look at all the fluid figure movement, and kudos must also be give to Lim's spotting of blacks, as the contrast created by the black, white, black of the night backgrounds and Bengal's costume design really kept everything seperated and crystal clear. Great stuff!

I always liked Bengal, especially the way Bagley drew him in New Warriors. Nice one!

Great two pages of a VERY cool character! I always try to pick up associated pages and those that I have, I think are special sets that further illustrate what this whole genre of art is about - NARRATIVE art!

I'll tell you what, I do like it at all, including the pin up-y stuff, but I've been digging these interior panel pages more and more, especially these ones from my younger years! As you say, the storytelling's what we remember! Thanks for the add, Neon!
