DescriptionCouple posts tonight from the good ol' ‘80’s! I picked this up from a recent ComicConnect auction, adding to my burgeoning attempt to pick up pieces from books I enjoyed as a kid. Jeff Purves had a year and a half stint on the Hulk following McFarlane, before leaving comics pretty much altogether. I thought he did a really nice job with Joe Fixit, making him really look and feel like the arrogant bruiser he was. This page came from a quirky story tying into Inferno – I actually was looking for a page from the issue after, #358, but this was the next best thing. I liked it most because it’s got a nice Hulk headshot in the bottom left – Jeff’s Hulk is clearly distinguishable as his own. Also like all that sound effects lettering on the bottom half of the page. Let me know if there’s anything out there available from #358, and thanks for looking! Social/Sharing |

A very cool page from a GREAT Hulk run. Purves was highly underrated but his run is gaining respect it deserves. Look for my interview with him in Overstreet FCBD in May and in 2016 Overstreet Comic Book Marketplace Yearbook. A great guy and super talent who has worked on some big animated films. Bravo!

Bravo!I'm glad his stint on Hulk is getting some recognition...it was great, especially considering it was following Todd McFarlane. Will definitely be on the lookout for that interview! Thanks, all, for commenting!

Fun page, I love how brutal the Hulk was during that run by Peter David and Jeff Purves--not a guy you'd want to mess with. Purves is so under-rated--congrats!

Purves' Hulk was awesome! He was my first introduction to comics.
