Description

Super-cool cinematic page from the 1969 story "The Assassination of Nick Fury" which featured the first and only appearance of BULL'S EYE! (Not to be confused with the DD adversary Bullseye, who first appeared in the March 1976 issue of Daredevil #131). Bull's Eye was an assassin paid by HYDRA to take out Nick Fury. He succeeds, until it's revealed later that the Nick Fury Bull's Eye killed was actually a Life-Model Decoy (LMD). Bull's Eye would never get another shot at Nick Fury (or another appearance in the Marvel Universe for that matter) because he takes a shot to his own bull's eye on his uniform courtesy of Dum Dum Dugan.

This was the last issue (#15) of the Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD series that was not a reprint. (It ran 3 more issues before cancellation). The mystery of Nick Fury's assassination is revealed later in Avengers #72.

What a talkative assassin! You really can't miss (get it?) with a nice piece of art by Trimpe and Grainger. I'm glad you pulled the trigger (get it?) on this one Steve. Bang!

Interesting page. That rifle has some pretty advanced programing being 1969 but of course it should have recognized the heartbeat of a robot. Nice one, Steve!
