DescriptionI have always wanted an Alex Toth but didn't have enough knowledge to know where to look or where to focus my attention. I'm still sort of newbie when it comes to his art...so when this piece came my way, I had to jump on it. I really enjoy the DC War genre, so it felt up my alley.Social/Sharing |

Whoa! Not only a Weird War Page by Totch, but a spectacular one at that! Just look at how deceptively simple the drawing is. Minimalism at its finest! The final panel especially, I actually "hear" the stillness in the air after the battle has ceased. Brilliant stuff. Perhaps the best piece of art in your fine collection, Johnny!

Haha. I have always loved the Kubert War books. The art is so alive.

As with all war stories, the main point of them is to show that war is hell and that the men fighting them are tested to their limits to remain brave and noble above it all. This Toth page has it all with how he shows the darkness and smoke as the enemy approaches. The desperate looks are enough for them to call in for GI Robot.

I just love the swirling atmospherics and abstract shapes when the camera pulls back. Great lines and shapes in every panel

Great pick up! I had my eye on this one as well but it's a great fit for your collection. Congrats!
