DescriptionThe original turnaround art for the unproduced Visionaries "Cybro-Serpent" (AKA "Croil") figure. This art was done by comic book legend Neal Adams, which is pretty cool. Never had any Adams art before.Visionaries was a 1987 action figure line from Hasbro. They were a little larger than the GI Joe line, and had an emphasis on holograms. Each figure had a hologram chest emblem (the flat area on the figure's chest in the art) as well as a "power staff" banner that they carried. The line was expensive though and wasn't really connected to anything else, so it died a relatively quick death. Work had already progressed on a second series of figures though, this one included, but none ever saw the light of day, sadly. Me personally, I loved Visionaries. Got a Leoric (the leader of the good guys, the Spectral Knights) for Christmas in '87. I had absolutely no idea what the line was, but I thought it was super cool. Been a fan of the line ever since. So I'm thrilled to be able to add some original art from the line to my collection. Social/Sharing |

Very rarely seen toy designs and very rarely seen Neal Adams art since he didn't do sketchbooks until the 2000s.

Congrats! I saw this go up for sale and debated it as art seems to be nearly impossible to find but I'm glad it ended up with a true fan. I too had Leoric as my first and only figure for many years, so I have lots of love for this series too and felt that it didnt get a fair enough shake but that's the story of many 80's IP's. I was dissapointed in the IDW version, as soon as I saw they killed off Leoric and the original spectral knights I was out. Even if it never gets it's time to shine, we still have these gems and treasured memories to fall back on:)

Congratulations Tommy, I was the consignor of this piece to Comic Connect. I had bought it directly from Neal about a year ago, so you are one of the only people to ever own this piece. I'm glad it is going to a good home. Neal may still have a few other Visionaries designs available.

Thanks! I haven't been that nervous and excited about an auction in years. :) I'm a big fan of toy art and pre-production material in general, but Visionaries has always been one of my favorite lines. Such fun toys.
And Neal will already have an email waiting for him as 2022 begins... ;)
