Alex Raymond is not only the master for young ladies, but also a bit older ones and creating awesome expressions. Here is also a very nice example about his talent and creativity for rendering and how to make 3D effect by using just thin black lines!
Once the original artwork is quite big (Raymond's standard size, 50+cm x 13+cm / 20" x 5.25") then actually this 3D effect is best visible when having a bit distance. Tried that, and noticed that from about 1.5m distance to watch the original is getting the best impact of this rendering, how Jenny's head in shadow looks like in 3D effect.
If you have Raymond's original Rip Kirbys unframed in a portfolio, take sometimes a bit distance and look again ;-)
In the additional photo is a match to give an anchoring point about the details, compare that into Jenny's eyes ;-)
