DescriptionLOOK OUT BATMAN! DUCK! A lone assassin wielding a katana is poised above the Caped Crusader, about to leap down and slash him to ribbons. Meanwhile Batman is so preoccupied finding his friend Commissioner Gordon lying injured that he doesn't notice what's right behind him. It's the classic "Look behind you!" moment but what makes it so arresting is the powerful composition and glorious inking of Neal Adams. In the late 60's and early 70's Neal Adams set the comic industry on fire with his innovative approach to comic art. Neal made comic art that was more realistic, more cinematic and more dynamic than anyone before him. This cover, with its rich blacks and sensuous lines, is a stunning example of Neal's work and I'm thrilled to it add to my collection.NOTE: Titles and word balloon were recreated by professional restorer Robert Dennis to match the published comic. HO-LEE @#$%!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Neal Adams Batman/Detective cover. I'm pretty sure I mentioned before that I was in my 60's with high BP and high cholesterol, right? You know my heart can't take this kind of @#$%. LOL

Geez, Bill, quit breaking CAF with these epic pieces!! Haha! Absolutely love this Neal Adams cover. Outstanding image of Batman, really dig those rich blacks, and the flaming torch gives it an even more sinister, foreboding feel.

The fabulously done lighting against the black background amidst a beautifully balanced composition makes for another killer acquisition, Bill. Way to go!

I've always been a Marvel guy, but if I had to choose between this cover and Giant-Size Thor #1, I think I would go for this one... Lucky you, you've got them both!

Bill, fantastic cover by the best of the best. a true museum piece. But please have the word bubble replaced that says "Commissioner Gordon!" it will add so much drama to this masterpiece.

A good cover is well drawn. A great cover is well drawn and tells a story in a single image. And this is why Neal Adams was, is and always will be one of the all time masters of this unique American art form.

I have always loved this Adams cover. The composition, the use of negative space, the perspective. Neal was a master, and this is such a great example of that.
