Description
I don't collect panel pages, but when this one popped up, I couldn't resist. I've always loved Todd McFarlane's Spider-Man. He brought a whole new look to the comic as well as a whole new attitude. I love the way he made Spider-Man seem so much more...spidery. Look at his crazy pose here, the impossible way Spidey's legs stick up as he leans over the edge of the building. I love the black costume here, the way it dominates the page. And I love the layout, with the ginormous center splash and smaller panels above and below. McFarlane made everything about the book seem fresh and new. So, while I don't collect panel pages, I've glad I bought this one.

UPDATE: This page won Best Published Interior Panel Page in CAF's Best of 2019 competition.

A superior example of McFarlane in his early period putting his stamp on the character forever. Ditko Romita and McFarlane all legends of creation on Marvel Comics greatest hero. The layout is great but that center splash is a pleasant kick in the stomach. Bravo to a good CAF Friend.

WOW!  That is something you don't see every day... or any day.  Love the white lines against the black of Spidey's costume--McFarlane's exciting inventiveness is already on display here.  Big time congrats!

Oh, Bill, Bill, Bill, you are killin' me my friend!  Yet another outstanding get - congrats!  This really is a primo McFarlane example from his early (very early!!) ASM run.  Totally agree regarding the black costume and it taking up the page over different images.  Wow!

There's something about the simple and stark contrast of black and white on Spidey's costume that makes him glow. Like he's truly not of this world. Wonderful page to stare at.

Bill, this is rather ironic.  Here you reside as one of the premiere cover collectors in our hobby and within CAF.  Your cover collection is awesome.  However, you win a 2019 Best Of segment with a freaking early McFarlane ASM panel page, not a cover.  Maybe it was that black costume prime image on top of the truck.  While I offer my sincere congratulations, I hope secretly that you remain a cover collector.

I don't collect panel pages either -- however, I certainly would have also made an exception for this one!
