Wow! This is one of the best Bronze Age title splashes I've ever seen. Stunning work by John Busema and Joe Sinnott, two of the mainstays at Marvel Comics! Gorgeous art from Paul Smith! I've never heard of this book--The Rocketeer/The Spirit: Pulp Frictio--But I need to check it out. Love the top panel with the Rocketeer speeding past a car carrying the Spirit and Commissioner Dolan. Interesting composition to this page, but I'd love to read the word balloons to find out what's going on. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! How interesting that in 1904, a studio of female artists were working together and doing published illustration art. Before this, I'd never heard of Elizabeth Shippen Green, or her fellow artists, but now I'd love to find out more. Thanks for sharing this!

Wow! Cool and mysterious image of the Dark Knight standing in the rain on a building ledge surrounded by gargoyles. I love the color palette Ardian Syaf used in painting this. By painting Batman and the gargoyles a light pink and the cityscape behind them a cool teal blue, Ardian creates a great deal of separation between the foreground and the background. Fabulous pick-up, congrats!
Gorgeous Spider-Woman sketch. When I first noticed it in thumbnail, I too thought it was a fine art sketch. Only when I clicked on it to make it larger did I realize it was Spider-Woman. And why not? Why should sketches of our favortie superheroes be drawn as skillfully and evocatively as fine art sketches?
While I appreciate everyone's glowing comments about the raccoon and the moose, I wanted to throw in a compliment to Frazetta's drawing of the woman. She's way more attractive than either the moose or the raccoon.
Crazy cool Batman commission by Matt Allison. Clearly Matt has a different way of looking at things. This portrait of the Dark Knight with a floating skull for a head muttering the word "OK," makes me smile, but I don't know why. It's bizarre, but i kinda like it.
Incredible Star Wars commission by the always amazing Daniel Warren Johnson. This portrait of Darth Vader depicts a villain who has been through it all. Awesome pick-up, congrats!
The comic strip "For Better or Worse," ran in newspapers for 30 years. It was the creation of Lynn Johnston and always had interesting and amusing observations about family life. This is a terrific example with a smart, funny gag. Great pick-up, congrats!

Yowza! I love John Buscema drawing the Avengers! Big John was just so talented. I mean, how do you beat that top splash panel--A 40-foot tall Kree-designed Sentry laying unconscious in the grass? John is one of the few artists who could draw that and make you believe it. And then he could add alien soldiers dropping down from the sky and townsfolk running away. John B. was truly one of the best ever. Great pick-up, congrats!
