DescriptionI loved Marvel Team-Up! Not only did you get Spider-Man, but you also got a different guest super-hero every month! Spidey is the classic loner, so it was always fun to see him paired up with other heroes. Sometimes they got along, sometimes they fought each other and that was half the fun. This is a terrific example from the series by Gil Kane. Here, Spidey and the Falcon team up to rescue J. Jonah Jameson's secretary, Glory Grant, from hoodlums. Kane was the go-to cover artist for Marvel in the 1970s and here you can see why. Kane's covers were beautifully composed, full of rich detail, often featuring multiple characters. Yet because his layouts were so well composed, your eye knew just where to look. This cover is drawn from a low angle behind the thugs to set up the dramatic scene and your eye is drawn upwards to the two heroes zooming in to the rescue. It's just a fabulous cover.Social/Sharing |

MTU was one of my favorite Marvel titles ever! Exactly for the reason you said in your description. My favorite character with a new guest star every issue. Every once in a while they woudl have the Torch team up with someone, but I didn't really mind that. I still always thought of it as another Spidey title. The first 20-30 issues were probably my favorite, but I pretty much collected the book until the end. I remember this cover well. Thanks for the memories!

I love the logo lettering and title, so important to have it all complete.

Gil Kane was master of cover composition. MTU was my favorite Spidey title growing up - so HUGE congrats on this one!

What a beautiful vintage piece! Not only is it jammed with letters and bubbles, the attire of the non-superheroes is a great time stamp on the era!

Kane was the best cover artist of the 70's, so it was no surprise that he was given far more cover assignments than any other artist during that decade. As for MTU, they have really needed to bring that title back for well over 30 years now!

Marvel Team-Up was one of my "must reads" for several years back in the mid 1970's through the 1990's and this is a terrific cover from that vintage. Congratulations and thank you for bringing back some great memories!

I always liked the MTU issues that featured less popular characters who didn't already have their own titles--and this issue with the Falcon is a perfect example. Dynamic composition that's classic Kane--a cliff-hanger story told in a single image. Awesome!

A Kane cover from the 70s is always a cause for celebration and this one is no exception. Congrats !
