Description

Another eye-catching "puzzle card" commission from the talented Mexican artist Marco Carrillo, based on the vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles LCD electronic handheld game by Konami (circa 1989 in North America).

The concept of the original game revolves around the Turtle/Turtles (the sprites all resemble Leonardo using a katana) braving the dangerous traps and enemies on ground and underwater to save April O'Neil held captive in �Shredder�s Asylum.� Marco expanded upon the concept to feature Raphael battling Mousers and Flap Jaws (top left), Leonardo with a defeated Foot Soldier (top middle), Shredder with April in the Asylum trap (top right), Michelangelo (bottom left), Foot Soldier getting destroyed by the "Turtle Cutter" trap (bottom middle), and Donatello acquiring a bomb (bottom right). Taken together, the puzzle has something of a relay system.

Among the Additional Images, I've uploaded the conceptual layout sketches Marco sent along with the cards and a scan of the verso side of his custom-branded PSC sketch cards.

The LCD game condensed the NES game stages and this tribute to the game packaging breaks it down even further with fun at every spot on the screen! The card medium is basically doing the same thing in terms of the art having the essence of the game.
