DescriptionTHE DYNAMIC DUO--TOGETHER AGAIN! Just picked up the Robin Cover to Frank Miller's All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder #1 and I'm thrilled. I've owned the Batman version for some years now and and it's exciting to bring the two covers together again. I love the exuberant pose Jim Lee gave Robin here--The Boy Wonder's sheer joy at swinging through the city is palpable. Such a contrast with Batman's grim, somber expression. I love the dramatic, utterly dizzying background looking down on Gotham. And the insanely detailed inks by Scott Williams really make the covers pop. I'm delighted to finally have both covers together in my collection! If you think they look good here, believe me, in person they're even more amazing. My thanks to Albert Moy, Jim Lee and Scott Williams for allowing me to reunite the dynamic duo.Social/Sharing |

Yin and yang. Light and dark. What an awesome pair of covers! It's beautiful rendering, but fantastic composition, too, and I love how they tie together to balance as a whole. They belong together. So awesome. High flying congrats!

This comic sold like crazy and they are of the most memorable works from the 00's. You'd see these images used for gigantic banners and covering walls at the DC booth at SDCC. It is one of Lee's great artistic accomplishments.

WoW! You definitely don't play around, do you, Bill?!? What can I even say, except to point out the obvious? If ever there was a quintessential 1st issue cover featuring top tier characters, drawn by a top tier artist, this one is it!

Such iconic covers! I can't believe you got both! I've always like the contrast between the "Dark" Knight and his light-hearted sidekick. Congratualtions on this accomplishment!

It's amazing that Jim Lee provided the same background for both covers, and Scott Williams inked it differently each time, rather than relying on some mechanical process... that's commitment to the craft!
Funny enough, just an hour ago I was describing to my wife the solemn, unflagging dedication to reuniting pieces of art like this, and the rhapsodic joy when it comes to pass... which I think sparked in her a solemn, unflagging dedication to finding a good divorce attorney, and reminded her of the rhapsodic joy she experienced before we ever met!

Reunited and it feels so good! These covers were meant to be together and they have found the perfect home in your collection - major congrats on putting this set back together! I bet Scott's eyes got really big when he saw all that background detail that Jim put on these pages - that's a TON of work right there and he really delivered on the inks. These covers, artistically and thematically, belong together. Both show Lee and Williams at the height of their artist powers, and they contain iconic images of the characters. (It's not quite the same scale or nearly the same fit, but I think I got a smidgen of the rush you must have felt when you united these covers when I was able to acquire a Sandman 19 page to pair with the Sandman 75 page that I had picked up years before. Both featured conversations between Morpheus and Shakespeare about the plays that were at the heart of their bargain, and I felt they complimented each other thematically and artistically.) Cheers and well done!

If you like Batman and Robin, and let's face it, who doesn't like Batman and Robin, it just doesn't get much better than this. I am most curious about those hyper-detailed backgrounds and how they replicated it almost line for line between the two drawings. They really may be the best Batman covers Lee has drawn.
And thanks for mentioning how great they look in person, perhaps you can loan them to a museum someday so that the rest of the world can appreciate how amazing they truly are.
