DescriptionArthur Adams is a master of detail. Nothing is too small to escape his notice. Check out this classic cover for Batman Annual #23, part of Adams' JLApe crossover from 1999. It's a marvelously detailed cover depicting Batman feeling a gang of gorilla gangsters firing tommy guns! The gorillas are meticulously drawn, their furry faces lovingly rendered, even their 1930's style suits and fedoras are drawn to perfection. But Adams doesn't stop there, he also details the buildings behind the gorillas with tons of crosshatching, intricately rendering the stonework, cornices, air ducts, fire alarm and water tank. Batman gets the full Adams treatment as well. He's rendered in typical Adams fashion running towards the viewer. In case you can't tell, I'm a huge fan of Art's Art.Social/Sharing |

Oh man! That's where this is. Funny because I just added this cover to my WANT list a few weeks ago. Haha! Oh well, glad to see it has a good home. Enjoy and congratulations!

Gorillas with suits and tommy guns... how can you beat the fun of that!? I never get tired of pouring over the details Adams puts into a piece. Beautiful work.

The details here are stunning to say the least. Love the dynamics of Bats in air while escaping the bullet carnage from the apes. Great cover!!
