DescriptionMy first commission! Arranged through Splash Page Art with Lee Bermejo and picked up at SDCC 2019. I asked for a drawing of Spider-Man swinging through the city, with brick buildings and water towers and pigeons in the background. And boy, did Lee deliver! I love how he drew Spidey's costume, not as a Tony Stark engineered lycra uniform, but as an ill-fitting costume hand sewed by Peter Parker himself. I love that Spidey is wearing sneakers! And Bermejo totally nailed the gritty city and old water towers in the background. Oh, and the pigeons! I love how the front pigeon is out of focus as if photographed flying off! The drawing is breath-taking! I couldn't ask for a more perfect Spider-Man commission!UPDATE: My commission has just been turned into a Cover! Marvel is using this illustration as a variant cover for Spider-Man #1, to be published in September! Special thanks to Mark Hay and Lee Bermejo. Social/Sharing |

Whenever I see Bermejo pieces like this, my eyes immediately go to the background. No one, and I mean no one, does a cityscape as well as Bermejo! Wow!

Proof positive that Bermejo is one of the most skilled and talented artists to enter the business in the last 20 years. I know how dicey commissioning artists can be, Bill, but had I known in advance your first would be with Bermejo, I would've told you that you had nothing to worry about. So great, man!

I'm a little bit late to the party but better late than never. Lee Bermejo kills it again. You can tell he really enjoyed working on this piece from all the detail and effort he put into this commission. Lee has always been great with illustrating fabric so it's no surprise that Spidey's costume looks phenomenal. Congratulations on another showpishow Bill. Cheers! N.

Love the early spider-man days as well when he was poor and had to make his own ill fitting costume and had to hunt pigeons for sustenance.

So when is a commission not a noun? When its commissioned into a astonishing cover! Bermejo is underrated and amazing doesn't begin to cover it. Sorry for the Spidey-title puns (all intended), and congratulations on your spectaular acquisition!

One of the very best pieces Lee has ever done. An absolutely brilliant interpretation of Spidey -- congrats on another great addition to an already sick collection!

Insanely awesome piece. It's easy to see why they would turn it into a cover.
