Description

Sometimes less is more. That's definately the case with Tim Sale, whose art is deceptively clean and simple. In Batman: The Long Halloween, Sale drew thirteen covers, each representing a different holiday and each as graphic as a magazine cover. On this cover, celebrating Roman Falcone's Birthday, Sale drew two eyes looming over a birthday cake, which then becomes Falcone's face, the missing cake slice forming his moustache. Simple but effective, right? Then, be sure to notice the bloody knife used to cut the cake and the candles that feature different characters from the story. Notice who's on top. Perhaps not so simple after all.

This cover reminds me of a comic I have yet to figure out which one it was were Joker has everyone Batman works with on a cake just like this! Nice

Comic art hasn't been around for long or apreciated as an important artist medium until fairly recently but this is yet another historic piece of art you have here in a Musium quality collection. A truly insane gallery you have put together Bill. We are not worthy! ; )
