DescriptionWhen I first saw this page, and the entire issue of Amazing Spider-Man # 187, 43 years ago (Was it that long ago?) in 1978, I was completely blown away by the art. Didn't find out until later that Jim Starlin did layouts and Bob McLeod came in and did a spectacular job with finished pencils and inks. Bob mentioned to me that, at that time, Starlin told him that "he couldn't beleive I had done so much with it." (See additional images for more)This stunning page would have been a great addition to my collection but, I've never seen the original surface so, I did the next best thing! I commissioned Bob to recreate it for me, complete with lettering! Bob did an incredible job and I could not be more thrilled with the results. Now I can check off one of my Holy Grails of comic art. Thank you, Bob! If you ever want a nice commission for a reasonable price, I highly recommend Bob McLeod! Social/Sharing |

I've always been a big fan of Bob's work, as both a penciller and as an inker. People rarely get panel pages recreated, so this is a real treat to see. Well done, man!

The best page from the book. The main attraction of the story is here having them fight each other. They of course team up later, but that can be seen any number of other times.

McLeod's use of zipatone and inks shades is fantastic. Great example!

Hmm..This is pretty good! Not having read the issue, why did Spider-Man not just web Captain America to the ground or wall?

Congrats on getting something with so much personal meaning to you! As mentioned in personal email in comparing this recreation vs the printed page I don't think anyone would even think it a recreation without you informing them ... it's that well done. And its a dynamite page with great panels - especially #3. And love the word balloons! And again, much thanks for letting the page go that you did to help you obtain this one ... I'm very happy to be its current caretaker.
