Description

By 2001 I wasn’t reading many comics on a regular basis, but I did follow creators. One such high profile writer was Kevin Smith. I very much enjoyed his moves and then followed up with reading his comics work. So when I heard he was writing a relaunched Green Arrow series, I was very much intrigued! The first 10 issue arc Quiver was a really fun read, but then his 2nd arc Sounds of Violence introduced the villain Onomatopoeia, who only spoke in sound effects, a really creative comic villain!

When it was announced that Smith was selling off parts of his comic art collection, I immediately was drawn to the Green Arrow pages, specifically those from this climatic fight between Ollie & Onomatopoeia.

I love that this one showcases Onomatopoeia speaking sounds as well as features a front & center Ollie leaping off a building (and the page). Hester & Parks were a great creative duo on this series and this whole “final battle” is a standout sequence!
