Description

Historic first appearance page of the Hunger Dogs themselves, leaping into revolt in this nearly half page splash! Darkseid�s Micro-Mark technology is being implemented on this page, activated with a button marked DESTROY! All part of Jack Kirby�s Fourth World saga. (That DESTROY panel has become a widely circulated meme and I chuckle when it comes my way.)

This page is a twice up, measuring at 15" x 20, so it's quite large. I love the cropping out of the main 'Dog's' head in the first panel, leaving him running in air. The weapons are great as well - even in his last harah Kirby dreams up that giant ax over on the left that would surely topple that old man right over.

This page is from DC Graphic Novel�#4�with a cover date of�March, 1985. The Hunger Dogs�was designed to give an ending to the story of the New Gods.�It incorporated several pages from the unpublished "On the Road to Armagetto" story and brought Kirby's�New Gods�series to a close as the final battle between Orion and Darkseid is averted when the "hunger dogs", the tortured citizens of Apokolips, finally overthrow Darkseid and his regime, forcing Darkseid and his allies into exile.

It is exhibited in an antique wooden frame, preserved behind UV protected glass.
