DescriptionAlways loved EIGHTBALL letter pages. The more ridiculous the fan mail, the better. Which makes this a prime example for me on several levels. It's probably all the interaction Clowes cares to have with his readers, but he does take the effort to transcribe each note by hand. What an honor for them.Happy birthday, Mr. Clowes. Are those real or are they kayfabe letters? It's like some guy who doesn't like what they read because the avatar is too ugly for them. Anyway, I'll take one of those catalogs for $2 please.

This is the question for me. I loved (and still love) 8Ball and every bit of arcana and marginalia that Clowes packed into each issue, and I'd enjoy it just as much even if I knew Clowes didn't really transcribe these berbatum from actual fan letters, but I'd like to know anyhow. Super page by the way!!

I'm compelled to add: love the (paint? gouache?) treatment on the character which evokes those similar "photo-real" advertisement spoofs from early MAD.

Wow, cool page. Love all that laborious hand lettering, too. Daniel Clowes is directly responsible for me being drawn into the orbit of the Felix Comic Art Podcast as the first episode I listened to was the Todd Hignite conversation. What an education it was bingeing on all the episodes after that. Is there anyone (apart from Bill) who has done more to promote the hobby of original comic art collecting than Felix? Thank you, Felix!
