DescriptionWhile my affection for Don Newton's Batman art is well known, the impetus for pursuing this page was driven by finding and acquiring Ed Hannigan's (close to final) tight prelim for the cover of this issue. That cover to Batman #377 is memorable for its Winsor McCay tribute with Jason Todd's bed taking off like the famous Sunday strip of Little Nemo in Slumberland. Going through the issue...there's no page that vaguely resembles the cover; clearly that was Ed wanting to get that idea/homage published regardless of continuity!Link to B377 cover prelim: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1786757 I have been framing a lot of my pieces as pairs (cover/splash, splash/interior, etc) so I went through the issue looking for the best page. Tons of fight scenes, but nothing supernatural. However, this delicate page, with its distinct Newton features along with Alcala signature backgrounds and night sky, is by far the most stunning example from this issue. Thanks to Will K for turning down so many other offers over the years and letting me pair this up for framing with the cover prelim. Social/Sharing |

I don't do Batman, but this looks a lot like my favorite Starlin pages. Who knew that Newton had that in him!

Absolutely fantastic page. Every panel is important to the masterful storytelling. Just a gem. When Alfredo Alcala is paired with a talent like this he shines.
I never want to see this in color. Perfect as presented here.

Newton and Alcala deliver big time in this dreamy romance page that Nocturna conjures up in our minds and Batman's. He wants to give in so bad just like us. Who can resist such an alluring lady where the rest of the world disappears and there are only a sea of stars and celestial bliss.

This is one of the greatest examples of 2 very capable artists complementing each other. Every panel is a diamond. The Newton/Alcala team should be up there with the best of the best.
