DescriptionI had page 23, and then page 24 showed up... how could I not jump on it???Conan the Barbarian Annual #9, page 23/24 splash action! 1984 Amazing art by Ernie Chan on this beastly Conan spread from 1984! Here our Savage hero takes flight in battle with the awesome Mastadon. I just love how minimal this spread is, no copy except for a grunt, and every panel with aerial Conan action! The inks are breathtakingly fluid on this one. Both pages signed by Ernie Chan Social/Sharing |

A great pairing! I bet you had always wondered what happened after panel 3 on the first page. Now you know! :)

Thanks Steve!Sorry to ruin the fun of everyone but I fear this page is not from the "wonderful duo" Buscema/Chan but only by the last one, which make a slice difference...It will be easy to check as you have the book. Beautiful pages, however. I am especially sorry that I own the original page just before (22) ...

You can see the margin numbering on the left page had me thinking this was Annual 4 (as I purchased that page first). I actually just opened the book up today and realized it's Annual 9, all Ernie Chan! Bummed it's not a Buscema, but I still love the artwork.

A kind of "slow action" sequential art rarely seen before. And what an incredible job done on the inkings ! It may be not the best period for the drawings of Conan head by Chan (some dailies on the 1979 are more sharp and similar to Buscema style)but it's one of the best CHAN inking I've ever seen (and don't ask : I don't want to sell my page 22 but, if one day of Madness, you want to sell yours, think to me ;-).

I am bummed it's not the 1978 Buscema that I thought it was (or that Heritage Auctions labeled it as), but definitely not a negative comment on Ernie Chan, these pieces are beautiful. You should at least post your page 22!

You should at least post your page 22!Of course, you won't send back the art because it's not from Big John, but if really HA have sold it by labeled it as Buscema, you should try to have a refund on the HA fees because it's at least no professionnal at all not to have a minimum check of what they sell and the reference to Buscema has unduly increased the stakes on this art, and therefore the final price ...

I loved Marvel's Conan as A kid and especially Savage Sword because of Ernie Chan! This is a wonderful DPS showing his Conan skills. Bravo!
