DescriptionDon Rosa Anders And & Co. [Donald Duck & Company] #1994-15 Story Page 15 Uncle Scrooge Original Art (Egmont, 1994). The story of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck continues in this eleventh installment titled "The Empire-Builder from Calisota"(aka The Richest Duck in the World). Scrooge is invited to have a royal audience with Czar Nicholas II of Russia. Along the way, Scrooge visits a haberdasher who accessorizes the young tycoon with a certain iconic top hat! While in Russia, Scrooge learns of the missing legendary candy-striped ruby that inspired the creation of Fabergé eggs, and so, sets off on a two-year expedition to locate the missing jewel. His treasure hunt is successful when he locates and procures the jewel from a group of bandits in Western Asia. Convinced this jewel will regain him favor with his sisters, he aims to return to Duckburg and sets sail aboard on a "certain" ocean liner the departs from Southampton, before it makes impact with an iceberg (yes, THAT ocean liner). This story was originally published in 1994 in Denmark by Egmont, and later reprinted for US audiences in Uncle Scrooge #295 (Gladstone, 1995). Owing to depictions that some markets may consider offensive, Disney has decided to ban this story and remove it from any future circulation, despite it being an integral part of the 12-chapter storyline. Created in ink over graphite on two sheets of Bristol board with a combined image area of approximately 12.25" x 17.5". Staple holes, whiteout correction/clean-up, production tape, and editorial notes along margins. Signed by Rosa in the lower right margin. In Excellent condition. What else to say? Lo$ is just a comic masterwork, and this page collects many things I love, like Scrooge in all his beauty with top hat, or the sad Nicolas II Romanov on the brink of the revolution. But there are also the Titanic and a beautiful kewl like the candy-striped ruby. All in a few panels. Social/Sharing |

This page deserves an overlay as the writing by Rosa had an impact on each of these panels and made the story to have so many more dimensions.
