DescriptionIS THAT EVERYBODY? Whoa! Take a look at this page! For the Heroes Return event, George Perez put together this incredibly detailed cover featuring virtually everybody who had ever been an Avenger. (Okay, no Hulk, but everybody else). If you don't recognize them all, it's because they've been magically transformed into Medieval knights pledged to the sorceress Morgan Le Fay. Perez had to redesign practically every costume to match the Medieval motif. (Check out the cool armor he designed for Captain America, dead center). Good thing Perez was experienced with drawing complex scenes, cause he had his hands full with this baby. By my count, he included at least 37 Avengers past and present. You can't fully appreciate this one without seeing it in person, but IMHO, it's a George Perez tour de force.Social/Sharing |

Yeah, yeah! We know that George is the all-time champ when it comes to putting the most characters on a single page. It really IS incredible, isn't it? I'm just surprised that there was still room left for the trees and the logo. Nice pickup buddy! You always lead the pack with your amazing acquisitions. Stay safe!

And btw I strongly believe the picture without the stats / dressing
should be the predominat picture.

Not just a multi-character masterpiece, but also a magnificent array of costume re-designs to match the Medieval motif! I do partiularly love Cap's look, and I am also thrilled to see the Wasp there (she was kind of hidden, but i found her!) George Perez was definitely the man for this job, and he nailed it! Major congrats, Bill!

Medieval Avengers Assemble! This is a sweet cover by Perez, with so much incredible detail. Man, who else but him could make this? And looking super carefully, is that the Hulk in the upper right, near Tigra? It is a Hulking figure in dense armor. And heh at neither god having to change their outfit. What a score! Huge congrats!

Like a lot of Marvel covers from this period, I think Mantis, Star Fox, The Hulk and Dr. Druid are hidden behind the UPC box.

Outstanding cover! It brought back so many Silver/Bronze age memories that I couldn't help but jump and buy it!... What I love, here, is Hercules: no change in his costume! And that's without counting the Astérix-type mustache on Thor!

Congratulations Bill on acquiring one of the most detailed Perez covers from his vol 3 run! I had a chance to buy this one about 20 years ago when the first owner was parting with all these covers, but I bought a few others from the run instead. Originally, all these vol 3 Avengers covers had no logo overlays as that was added by computer for production, but one of the owners along the way created those ovelays. I may be in the minority, but I love to view the full art of these covers without any logos. Great cover, as only Perez could deliver!

I'm not as big a fan of Perez as most, I'll admit, but this cover always stucj with me. Not only because of the sheer amount of characters (as Perez can do!) but all of the original designs he had to do for them! SO cool. Congrats!

There is no one in comics, absolutely no one, who excels at the team shot more than Mr. Perez. And look how beautifully he designed Captain America's armor. A wonderful cover, my friend! I know you will cherish it.

Some might call this a "George Perez tour de force". I call it a tour de Marvel Universe! Congrats Bill on being one step closer to outflanking The Collector (aka Benicio Del Toro) for being the top dog!

Incredible cover, Bill! Wow! Mr. Perez's vol. 3 Avengers work is only edged out by the JLA/Avengers crossover as his most wonderful in my book, and anyone doubting what a true labor of love this run was (by either of Mssrs. Perez or Busiek) need look no further than this storyline, where the medieval "alternate" takes on the characters were fleshed out so very, very well. George's redesigns were well-served by the awesome renamings by Kurt; characers like (off the top of my head) Yeoman America, Elementelle (Crystal), The Black Knight (The Black Knight!), Jade Giantess (She-Hulk), and (my very, very favorite) Sir MacHinery (Machine Man).
What a WONDERFUL piece from this classic run! Another treasure in your astonishing collection!
