Description

This stunning artwork illustrates the reason why I don't script my Common Elements commission projects, beyond providing the characters. Would I ever have imagined this scene? Absolutely not, never in a thousand lifetimes.

In fact, when I commissioned Rags Morales to create this meeting between Vixen and Marionette of the Micronauts, I hadn't even considered the problem that Rags brought to my attention immediately: "If I draw Vixen full-figure, Marionette's going to be really tiny." Well, duh. I shot back a fumbling reply: "Umm... well... maybe some scenario in which they're both the same size?" And back came Rags with: "Don't worry. I've figured it out." And indeed, as you can see here, he had.

I could gush all day about how gorgeous every aspect of this artwork is -- the expressions, the shading, the dynamic poses, the depth and richness of field, the clever use of perspective. Instead, I'll just let you, the viewer, marvel at the creative gifts of a master illustrator. This is without question one of the highlights of my collection.

Rags is a master. He's also becone a cherished friend who I was honored about inking his pencils a few years ago at DC. This is gorgeous and please don't every have it inked, my friend, unless it's something you and Rags want to do. I never really followed Vixen but the Micronauts was one of my favorites so seeing Princess Mari in all of her Goldenesque glory makes my fanbot heart flutter that much more faster.
