My first piece posted on CAF was a Duck Avenger convention sketch by Paolo Mottura, exactly 15 years ago, on June 23rd 2007.

I believe it's only fair to celebrate the anniversary with yet another piece illustrated by Paolo!

Also, you can consider this as part of my way to celebrate Uncle Scrooge's 75th anniversary (his first appearance was in Carl Barks' "Christmas on Bear Mountain" story, first published in 1947).

So it's a double celebration!!!

This commission is Paolo Mottura's own version/reinterpretation of Carl Barks' oil paintings "Secret Safe" and "What's in there?" (see additional images).

We're in Scrooge's money bin, the nephews are busy shoveling money while Uncle Scrooge is opening a matryoshka-like series of safes and we're all asking ourselves, considering that there are incredible riches basically everywhere around, what could be in there that is so incredibly precious that had to be so hidden and protected. We'll never know, but that's the beauty of it, isn't it?

Been waiting a couple of years for this (Paolo has been busy with many projects), but definitely worth the wait. Spectacular piece.
