Description"I have become undone."The entirety of Tradd Moore and Donny Cates' run on Silver Surfer: Black has been staggering. For me, this first page of the final issue completely caught me off guard. The image somehow combines the surrealism of the Cubism and Cubo-Futurism movements, the tessellation and geometry of M.C. Escher, and the bold lines of Jack Kirby. It succinctly conveys the stoicism, grief, empathy, and contemplative nature that has defined Silver Surfer throughout all these years. I am incredibly humbled to own this masterpiece by Tradd and I can't thank Tradd and Felix enough for giving me the opportunity to own a piece of this monumental achievement. Edit on 1/10/2021: I had the opportunity to ask Tradd his thoughts on the creation of this piece during a live chat hosted by his rep, Felix, and I thought I would share Tradd's answer here: "In that sequence, Surfer had fallen apart literally and figuratively. We've seen that done a thousand ties before, usually depicted representationally, or as representational as you can be given the supernatural context, but I wanted to approach it in the way that western art transitioned from representational to abstract across the 1800's through the 1900's. So yeah, great call seeing the Cubism in there! Tried to put in touches of Picasso, Braque, Kandinsky among others! Rodin!" Social/Sharing |

Very fortunate to nab one of these. There are many sad collectors who wanted one but came up short. Congratulations.

Congrats. That is such a tremendous splash and captures the excitement the reader gets when walking into this new world Tradd built.

Thanks Bob! It literally made me pause for a good couple minutes as soon as I opened the final issue. I also knew immediately after which page I wanted to go for in Felix's art drop.

Talking about spilling over into fine art...that is exactly what I meant! Perfect candidate!

I overheard Cates and Stegman talking about this page for a good ten minutes at a convention right before it came out...and with good reason. It truly is amazing in every good way. Congrats!

Wow, that's cool! I'd love to know what they had to say. At some point I want to ask Donny what the script was for this page. Thanks!

Does the whole book look like that? How do you even read it?

It doesn't really need words when the whole book looks like that.

I love all the abstraction that Tradd is putting into his most recent work. He really looks like he is having fun experimenting with his art and the medium in general. This page captures that sense perfectly. Congrats on picking up a stellar example from an artist that is challenging perception!

I know the feeling, Norrin...this page undid me, too! This is my favorite page Tradd has done. Everything I love about his art is right here, and in museum quality. Gorgeous work. Huge congrats!
