DescriptionWhen Todd McFarlane began his run on ASM, I was already in my late teens. So while I loved the new energy he revitalized the character with at the time, I personally did not enjoy seeing Marvel tell every other Spider-Man artist to "try and make it look like McFarlane". I enjoyed it enough to be a different take on the character, but not enough for it to become the standard. It was a fun and an obviously influential time in Spidey's history, but I ultimately still prefer comics illustration to be based closer on realism and therefore will always prefer the classic Spidey look established by Romita Sr., in terms of anatomy and body posing. On this splash page, even though the eyes are drawn in the larger McFarlane influenced style, I'm thrilled that Grummett went with the classic Spidey look in terms of how the costume webbing is done, how he posed the figure and with the perfect Spidey physique. I'm very happy to have this one in my collection. Social/Sharing |

Woohoo! Outstanding Spidey splash! And you got another swingin' image at the bottom! And both Spideys are subtly breaking panel - I love how that adds to the splashy effect...but subtly! Congrats on another sweet Grummett add!

That is definitely a wonderfully classic Spidey look. Love those two panels! You sure do have a fantastic stack of wonderful Grummett X-Men Forever pages.

I knew Tom drew an aoutstanding Superboy, but never knew he worked on an X-title. Will need to look up the series. Awesome art and a great Spidey page! Congrats.

i find he drew Spidey in an almost Bagley-esque manner.

I love everything about this page. The inking, the detailed pencils, the anatomy and, the way Spidey's knee breaks the panel. It is wonderful!
