DescriptionIn this issue, Kitty flies solo to Japan to visit Clan Yashida, at this point led by Mariko, Logan's former love and fiancée. Wolverine, or rather his clone, has gone missing and that's who Kitty is really looking for. During her search, she comes upon a secret meeting where she sees the Silver Samurai formalizing an alliance with The Hand, hence all the sword tips you see her about to come down upon in this image.Although I haven't read it since it first came out, I remember loving the Kitty Pryde and Wolverine mini-series back in the 80's, as it cemented the wonderful bond the both Kitty and Logan long had with each other. I also always found Wolverine's connection to Japan a very enjoyable part of his backstory, so it felt right to immerse Kitty in that world as well. Ever since then, I've always taken a liking to any imagery connecting either Wolverine or Kitty to Japan and Japanese culture, which makes this cover that much more special to me. Social/Sharing |

this is super cool. love the attitude in the face/pose and the Japanese cityscape behind is excellent. One of the coolest covers in the run! congrats Ruben

There's some strong memories being brought back of reading that original Kitty Pryde and Wolverine mini-series during junior high study hall. This cover is putting me right back there in company with all of that original Al Milgram art. Nice one!

Um, swords are a weak choice against Kitty, Hand Ninjas. You might as well have gone with party poppers and water guns. Just saying, she phases...Grummett Marvel alert! This is a fantastic cover. And those backgrounds look amazing. Does Grummett draw anything that's not crazy detailed? Sweet splash. Congrats!

Yeah, only slightly in her face is there any Grummett. Hamscher grew up on Image Comics, so most of the time he inked Tom that way and it wasn't a good fit. Then with this cover, he finally moved completely away from the Image influenced inking, yet still cocked it up with this weird, scratchy stle that completely buried Tom's recognizable style.

Don't forget to phase, Kitty!!! Looks like at least nine swords there, and that's your "lives limit!" Fantastic image, I really love this one. An intensely dramatic moment frozen in time, and you have to wonder, what happens next? Grummett rocks!

Because of the inks, probably not his best (on that series). It sure is a busy cover in terms of composition. The blades pointing to her is a nice device but I find that her figure is nearly fully swallowed by the dominating buildings.
But! I can see the appeal here...Grummett!

I can't see a cover like this (hero shot from below, jumping headlong into a sea of ninja) without thinking of the cover to 'Daredevil' #189, and I love the visual texture that was infused here by the great rendering of the building(s) in the background (standing in, as it were, for the sea of arrows). Great design, full of drama and power, and you can't look at it as a viewer without recalling the 'Kitty Pride and Wolverine' mini. Great add, Ruben - congrats!

Love her expression, and you got a great upward perspective shot that lends to the energy of her pose! Looking at all them swords below...I think she's got her work cut out (pun!) for her. But she does look up to the challenge! Also like that the background work was given equally good attention. Congrats, man!

Wow! What a stunning image of Kitty Pryde! Since she's usually portrayed as shy and demure, I love seeing the fierce side of Kitty! Beautiful layout and pencils by Tom Grummett. I love the contrast between the high-tech Japanese cityscape behind her and the sharp ninja blades below her. I'd worry more but I figure Kitty can just phase through those blades and emerge without a scratch! Superb inks by Cory Hamscher really make this cover pop! Fabulous pick-up!
