Twilight Issue 3 Page 41 by José Luis García-López! Howard Chaykin. Epic Classic Sci-Fi Series!

Pencils and inks José Luis García-López
Writer Howard Chaykin
1990
DC Comics

12.5 x 19.5 with an image area of about 11 x 17. Pencils and inks on bristol. This page is the action filled climax to this Early 90’s mini-series. John Starker, AKA Manhunter 2070, who has permanently bonded with Ilda, (the faithful robot-secretary of intergalactic detective, Star Hawkins) gets in close in an assassination attempt to topple Tommy Tomorrow, a cannibalistic, wrathful omnipotent not-quite-immortal god! But, They get ripped in half… Then, Brent arrives! Just the distraction that John/Ilda need! They drag themselves to their blaster, and manage to fire a shot heard round the galaxy.

Twilight is a three-issue prestige format miniseries by Howard Chaykin and José Luis García-López published in 1990 by DC Comics.

Plot
It attempted to bring in all of DC's future science/space characters, many originally from the 1950s and 1960s, into one series (despite the fact that many occurred in different time periods). It was another radical revamp of DC characters, including Tommy Tomorrow, the Star Rovers, Star Hawkins, Manhunter 2070 and Space Cabbie. Tommy Tomorrow is presented as an unbalanced individual who ran the Planeteers very autocratically, using them against his enemies, such as their rivals, the Knights of the Galaxy. – From wiki

José Luis García-López (born March 26, 1948)[1] is a Spanish-Argentine comics artist who works in the United States, particularly in a long-running relationship with DC Comics. In addition to his storytelling art, he has been responsible for producing the official reference art for characters in the DC Comics Style Guide, as used in licensed merchandise.

During the 1960s, García-López worked for Charlton Comics.[5] In 1974 he moved to New York,[3] where he met DC Comics editor Joe Orlando. His first interior art credit for DC was June 1975's "Nightmare In Gold" back-up in Action Comics #448, where he inked the pencils of artist Dick Dillin.[5] The following month, he inked the pencils of Curt Swan on a "Private Life of Clark Kent" backup story in Superman #289, before graduating to full pencils on a back-up story written by E. Nelson Bridwell in Detective Comics #452 (October 1975). Other notable works include Atari Force, Road to Perdition, Deadman, and various DC superheroes.[5] His work on the DC series Twilight received an Eisner Award nomination. – Wiki

Chaykin's earliest work with comic books was under the tutelage of Gil Kane, whom he would later call his mentor.[6][7] In 1970, he began publishing his art in comics and science-fiction fanzines, sometimes under the pseudonym Eric Pave.[3] Leaving Kane, he began working as an assistant to comics artist Wally Wood[8] in the studio he shared with Syd Shores and Jack Abel in Valley Stream, Long Island. He worked there for a "couple of months",[5] and in 1971 published his first professional comics work, for the adult-theme Western feature Shattuck in the military newspaper the Overseas Weekly,[3] one of Wood's clients. He also "ghosted some stuff" for Gray Morrow: "I penciled a Man-Thing story he did [for Marvel Comics' Fear #10 (cover-dated Oct. 1972)], and I penciled a thing for [the magazine] National Lampoon called "Michael Rockefeller and the Jungles of New Guinea."[5][9] He then apprenticed under Neal Adams, working with the artist at Adams' home in The Bronx.[5] This led to his first work at DC Comics, one of the two largest comics companies. In the 90’s Chaykin returned to DC to write the three-issue miniseries Twilight, drawn by José Luis García-López and revamping some of DC's science-fiction heroes of the 1950s and 1960s, such as Tommy Tomorrow and Space Cabby.
