DescriptionDecepticon General, Overlord, in his Base mode from the Transformers Legends Mobile GameI don't know much about the game, but apparently Overlord was a featured character in the story titled "Fan Favorite." The write-up states: A mysterious force has compelled a group of Autobots and Decepticons to do battle. Allegiance doesn't matter here, only victory. Will Overlord and his allies stand triumphant, or will you defeat them and win the day? "The characters in this event were chosen by Mobage via an online poll. The results reflect a mishmash of pre-TFTM ensemble players (Wheeljack, Rumble) and characters who have gotten a lot of face time in recent IDW material (Overlord, Misfire). The poll was held on website droidgamers.com between October 9 and October 18. The rules around allowable picks specified no well-known characters (a list of characters was given), no one with more than two modes, no Combiners or "Duo Changers", and that they must be from the Generation 1 continuity family. Mobage circumvents their own "no triple-changers" rule by using Overlord's combined "battle station" mode as his alternate form." Social/Sharing |

A transformer that transforms into some thing other than a moving vehicle? Is this the first one? I can't remember if any of the G1 bots could do that. This looks like a really rare piece of Transformers art. I guess the rest of the art was done digitally? Pretty neat, either way!

Omega Supreme, Metroplex and Trypticon all had base modes (before Overlord). Overlord is less known in the US, b/c he was more prominent in Japanese series like Masterforce.
I'm guessing some of this must have been digitally enhanced for the final card/online game, but I also assume there's a pencil version of the main robot mode out there as well.

Thanks as always for your scholarship. I do remember Metroplex, now that you mention it, though not the other two. Still, that's not many Transformers who don't trandform into vehicles.
And yeah, for sure there's some pencil art out there for the robot art on the card.
