DescriptionFrank Brunner will always be mostly associated with his rendition of Marvel's "premiere" mage. In that amazing run, Brunner combined realistic anatomy and facial expressions with haunting views of alternate dimensions and spectacular effects to depict Doc's spells. The contrast was absolutely breaththaking.When I look at Brunner's art I always feel I am sort of looking at a bridge between Neal Adams and John Byrne. In this splash you have all the typical features of a classic image of Doc as he "does his thing" (see handwritten note at the bottom), from intricate spell effects to exotic and threatening artifacts. Giordano does a great job at highlighting Brunner's rendition of Doc's concentration as he casts his spell, with just a few, masterful strokes. Perfect use of light and shadows and a timeless "Siseneg - Genesis" title complete a great splash. Brunner Doc Strange splash - check. Another one bites the dust. Social/Sharing |

Great Brunner page. Most "younger" collectors might not know this but in the 70-80s, comic books with Adams, Wrightson, Brunner, Starlin, Steranko (and one or two others) art was more collectable than the issues without them.
Point - everyone realized Brunner was an excellent artist. This page is an example of that.

loved these books as englehart and brunner made quite the team and the storys were terribly interesting, to say the least. giordano's inks always looked good on brunner and sise neg/genesis was a great and trippy story. congratulations to you as i k ow how long you've wanted for a superb brunner example!

Wow, classic. Hard to top a Brunner Doc Strange title splash! Nicely indicative with a straight on shot of the Doc spellcasting! Also love how the title lettering is incorporated into the overall image - great stuff. Congrats!

That is a STUNNING Frank Brunner Doctor Strange title splash! Love all the magics crackling around him -- and the intricate stained glass window behind him. I really wanna see the colorized version of this page. It must be out of this world too.

This is a truly great Frank Brunner Doc Strange example.
I love the Englehart & Brunner run, if you have not done yet, I suggest you to read the book "Marvel Comics – The Untold Story", very funny the part in which they describe how Englehart & co. found the ideas for the stories of Dr. Strange of this period.
