DescriptionLove Matt Allison's work and wanted to give him some latitude to draw something that interested him. When he opened up his list, my request was "Marvel villain - artist's choice". Super Skrull was definitely out of left field but I love the final product!Social/Sharing |

Super Skrull is one of the most visually appealing Marvel villains - love to see SS commissions and how the artist creates their own vision. Congrats E - thanks for sharing!

Super Skrull wouldn't have been in my Top 20 of artist requests but this is making me change my mind. Thanks, Dave!

I love it more each time I see it. This one begs to be in a frame. Killer piece.

Awesome! Would not have guessed this one either, but he nails it. All four fantastic elements are captured and that allows him to use his different textures. A flaming Thing fist is a scary thing if you think about it.

Yup! That flaming Thing fist is my favorite part of the image! Thanks, Tyler!

It's fantastic because it allows Allison to demonstrate his wide range of skills on inking to create textures for everything.

My favorite transition in textures occurs in 2 places:
1) Going from Thing arm to flaming forearm/fist. Expertly done in switching to a negative image and switching the blacks & whites
2) Thing leg turning invisible. He even out thought into transforming the shadow under SS

For your next mashup you can get a sexy blue mutant with a head on fire and a sparking eye. Extra bonus can have giant guns... ahhhh... nevermind.

My head just exploded. Some poor artist will be receiving this request - guaranteed.

So much to love about Matt's work and this piece! The hands steal the show for me. I love the ink work in the Mr Fantastic hand and the inverted effect on the flaming Thing hand. Wow!

Beautiful piece, Eranga! The Super-Skrull is actually one of my favorites (because he always lends himself to such great potential visual textures) and I'm right there with George H: the hands on this piece are stunning, and for opposite reasons - the Mr. Fantastic hands are gorgeous, solid, classic-style inking, and the Flaming Thing Fist (which is the new name of my next band, btw) is All-Out Eye Candy Razzle-Dazzle (which might be the name of my new band's first album). The face is Perfect Skrull Grouchy (first single!) and the cosmic background is an amazing way to set off the figure. A sumptuous visual feast, Eranga! Awesome!

Love it! The inking throughout is sublime (big surprise with Matt, right?!) and love that he's got all FF powers exhibited! What stands out to me most is the inking on both fists/hands...nuts. Big congrats, E!
