These two artworks were sold long ago, but I know there's many King fans here that will enjoy seeing the pics.

The image on the left was the first color comp proposed to be the cover artwork for "Salem's Lot". A whole different and more horror-ish look... The image on the right is the final color comp, which is very close to the final artwork except for a little less detail and some color variations.

What I find interesting, if you look at the three steps we have (the two comps and the final cover painting), is that apparently they had a process of removing the horror-ish feel of the art.

By the way; Dave has no King artwork left at all. I appreciate all the messages, but there's nothing left. Sorry :)

Both are excellent paintings, but I agree that the darker one was more fitting for the novel front cover. It has a sense of forboading & dred. Wish I had that in my collection. Maybe one day when I win the lottery or accidentlally rob a bank lol. ;)
