Description

Back from an out of town art collector gathering at the home of the world's number one Nightwing fan, collector Jeff Singh, I figured I'd start off the new week with a Tom Grummett New Titans page featuring a scene in which Nightwing, apparently going incognito as Terry Long(WTF?!?), takes Starfire out to the dance club on a date for the first time in months, trying to get their relationship back on track after Mirage bedded Nightwing while using her powers to impersonate Starfire.

Why the script called for Nightwing's disguise to make him look like Donna Troy's husband, Terry Long, is beyond me, especially given how ugly most fans often thought Terry was. Regardless, this page ended up being strictly a showcase for Grummett and Vey to illustrate the beautiful Starfire in civilian guise, in a knockout dress and high heels. As a Starfire fan myself, I wholeheartedly approve of this decision.

I remember reading somewhere years ago that Terry Long's look was loosely based on Marv Wolfman himself. If that was true, then I guess it wasn't enough for Marv's avatar to be in a relationship with Donna Troy. Now he'd have a shot with Starfire as well.

Bird's nest Terry was the best looking guy of the bunch. He had a stable upbringing and a steady job without having the trauma of having parents murdered in front of him, or the secondary trauma of being locked in a cave with older men practicing gymnastics in front of them, or the trauma of wearing a green scaly banana hammock to fight criminals. These are the things that women aren't attracted to? Besides, when Terry wore that frilly ruffles shirt with powered blue suit , va va va voom!

Such a beautyful piece and a great compo of panels. You got the place the where it all happens, a full figure image with panels of far away and at least a zoom. I really like that. And regarding the art... Fantastic! Congrats, Ruben

Because if you're going on a date with someone that hot, a fake beard and a suit two sizes too big is always a great idea. I'm surprised he didn't put some tape on the bridge of his glasses. I remember this jealousy arc. Dick was always making bad choices with the ladies. Another really fun page, Rubén. Congrats!

Why does Dick look like an old professor dating one of his college students!! What kind of disguise is that? He supposed to be inconspicuous..Batman taugh him better than that.

As the unofficial leader of the Nightwing cheer leading squad, Nightwing I have to say that Starfire looks like sexy looked like in 1980. Does she actually say she loves dick in the first panel?
