DescriptionOne of the best aspects of our hobby can also be one of its most frustrating – there’s only one of any given cover, page, strip, etc. So, when you own something, you have ‘the one’. The challenge is almost every ‘the one’ has multiple folks who feel deeply nostalgic and connected to it.Which brings me to Jim Aparo, his cover for Brave & the Bold #132…and Nick Katradis. Long story short – both Nick and I love Jim Aparo, particularly Aparo in the 1970’s when he was at his creative peak. We’ve corresponded over the years about respective Aparo acquisitions, with many an ‘attaboy’ along the way. But, we both know we’re acquirers of Aparo, not sellers. So, when I recently had the good fortune to acquire the full interiors to Brave & the Bold 132 (a comic I read 100+ times as 9-year old kid), I let Nick know that I’d love to put the whole book back together, cover and all. Now, to be clear, I knew the answer from Nick was going to be a ‘I wish I could help you, but no’ – we’d danced around interest in certain examples each of us owns over the years and letting go of something has just never been in the cards. It was one of the nicer no’s I’ve gotten in the hobby, but it was a ‘no’, nonetheless. Well, a few weeks later, Nick reached out to me with an opportunity to acquire the cover. And, he did so in a really gracious way that was fair to both of us. So, thank you Nick – for parting with the cover and doing so in a way that spoke volumes about how much you wanted to see the book back in its complete form, too. So what could possibly be better than a complete story by one of your favorite artists? A complete book of course! Congratulations on being able to fully assemble this spectacular issue. And thanks for sharing it, along with a great story of what makes this hobby great.

Chris I'm blown away. So nice. I especially love page 8 in this run. The detail and the shading is just beyond amazing. So much fun to see your updates. Thank you for sharing.

Chris, what can I say - your diligence and determination is astounding. "Thank god you are on our side" lol . First, you obtained the complete story to this Aparo Bronze Age gem. I complement you for getting that story back to the mainland, where it belongs. That was not an easy chore or a cheap one, i'm sure. And then knowing, as we discussed in detail, that I, like you, believe that complete stories and covers belong together, you approached me like a gentleman and made a case for it. I literally had no chance. lol Seriously, the cover belongs in your house, and I'm glad you are the custodian for both. A remarkable achievement, nuff said.

Wow, no easy task getting this whole book together, which makes the reward of having it feel that much better! Big congrats, and it's very cool Nick was able to help you get there!
