DescriptionPossible Spoilers Below:I said a lot of my comments in the description of page 31. While these comics of the dark multiverse are meant to show how all of the typical heroes are twisted beyond recognition, this issue actually leaves most of our heroes intact, which was nice. I love this parting scene, where we see the heroes who will remain and pick up the pieces and move forward. Hawkwoman taking over Hawkmans cowl is amazing, as well as Fury taking over Wonder Woman's mantle. Love it. And I cannot talk enough about how well Perkins draws Obsidian. I now own 3 pages from Perkins. Two from this series, and one from Future State Swamp Thing. All of my pages have Obsidian in them. He just does the character such justice. Very fortunate to have grabbed these awesome pages. Social/Sharing |

"...this issue actually leaves most of our heroes intact..."? Okay, if we put aside the fact that The Spectre had his entire head bitten clean off by Surtur and Dr. Fate's head was completely separated from his body by Hawkgirl while being used as a mace herself, not to mention Hawkman's body being sliced in half at the waist by Surtur's fire sword and Robin's head exploding as TNT's ring flew through it at the speed of a bullet, then yeah, I suppose the issue leaves most of our heroes intact! 😉

Ha! Ruben, you are not wrong. I definitely got overly ambitious saying "most", I should have said "some", which is a lot more than most of these Dark Multiverse books leave in place! With the heroes that survived, as well as the newer Infinity Inc. type younger heroes, there is actually a decent size team left as shown on the page 46 splash page. I'm just happy SOME of them were left : )

"overly ambitious", yes, good choice of words! 😁 You know I'm just having some fun with you, Brandon. One of the great things about the JSA is that the overall roster is so massive that you can wipe out an entire team's worth of members and they'll still have a full team left!

And I love that Mike used wash and whiteout effectively to add more depth, instead of just leaving it up to the colorist.

Oh man, I completely agree. His inks are killing it.
