Description

Like the rest of the world, I am a big time admirer of the great Arthur Adams. Really love his covers and commissions of course. However, it was the sequential artwork which first held a spot in my heart and continues to. The "Ultimate X" series was a re-imaged mutant world that featured in my opinion some of the finest interior pages of Arthur's career (outside of his Jonni Future epic). We are treated to full finished pencils since these were "digitally inked" to achieve the final printed pages.

I was able to add a pair of these pages into my collection in the past few months. Here is the first of those. Published in Ultimate X #3 (page 7) August 2010. We see why this series took years to complete. The incredible commitment to detail that made Adams famous is well on display. Notice the blue pencil perspective lines used to create the buildings and establish the figures. Nothing left to chance and no effort spared!

This is one of the few times I am grateful that the word balloons are digitally added and not hiding the artwork.

Thrilled to have published work from Arthur that fits within my more modest collecting budget.

Definitely was a fun read and a great looking book. AA is know for his pin up-y stuff, and really so, but we can forgot the can storytell with the best of 'em. Witness exhibit A :) Congrats!
