This art is 82 years old! And it doesn’t look a day over 47! From the Golden Age of comics we have two consecutive pages from Speed Comics issue 24!

A humor story from the master of the genre, Art Helfant, and it has a classic Hitchcockian plot twist! A case of mistaken identity. Biff has a doppelgänger on board named Winterbottom, and their superior officer is suspicious that one is a spy! Biff outs Winterbottom as the spy and punches him off the ship!

This are is a huge twice-up 14.5” x 20” with pencils and inks on bristol. It is in fantastic shape. The bristol is slightly yellowed with age. The lettering is hand inked. There are editorial notes in the margins, corrections, and some whiteout throughout. At the very edge of the board there are a few tiny pinholes that do not affect the art in any way.

This page is a fantastic example of what went into the creation of a comic book back in the Golden Age. It is a piece of pop culture history.

FYI- there is no crease or line across the center of the art. I scanned it in two images.
