DescriptionI've been a longtime fan of the Spanish comic artist/illustrator: Daniel Torres.. But finding available OA examples on our North American shores, has always been a rarity. When a few pieces of his artwork popped up in a recent Heritage Auction,-- I decided that THIS was finally my chance! Was fortunate to score "The Killing Man" illo, I wanted badly. But being a huge fan of Ridley Scott's BLADE RUNNER film.. I also had my eyes on this large mixed media illustration, as my backup choice. It was published in the November 2019 issue of FOTOGRAMAS magazine; a Spanish-language Fantasy Films periodical. The colors are much more vibrant on this, viewing it in-person. I love the fact that Torres (in the 2 large panels across the top), illustrated Roy Batty's dialogue lines: “Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion..” (LEFT) As well as: “..C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate” (RIGHT)Social/Sharing |

Really nice piece of work. I'm not sure what it is about it exactly, but it gives me very strong Mike Allred vibes. Oh, and great scan, too!

Essentially, it's a tribute to Rutger Hauer and his contributions to Ridley Scott's BLADE RUNNER.. He famously rewrote his "I've seen things.." speech, at the end of the film. I can see the Mike Allred vibes, too.. Good eye!!

Rutger Hauer's monologue stills gives me chills to this day. I memorized it for an acting class, but never got to do it. I was bummed. I love this illustration.
