DescriptionTitle page to the the 6-page back-up SEVEN SOLDIERS OF VICTORY story "Knight After Knight" featuring THE SHINING KNIGHT, published by DC Comics in 1975. This story was written by Golden Age writer Joe Samachson, but sat in an inventory drawer for decades. In the 70s, editor Joe Orlando had a groovy idea to get modern artists to draw each chapter to the story and serialize it as a back-up in Adventure Comics. Mike Grell drew the Crimson Avenger chapter, Jose Garcia-Lopez drew Vigilante, Ernie Chan drew the Star Spangled Kid, Lee Elias drew Green Arrow and Dick Dillin drew bookends featuring all of the characters together. And Howard Chaykin drew, you guessed it --> the Shining Knight!!!This is early Chaykin work where he's channeling Frazetta. And if I ever showed this page to Howard this is how I'm guessing he would react: "Kriozere, what the $*#& is that?! Do you like to torture me? That's horse$@*&!! Get it away from me. I used to consider you a friend." Social/Sharing |

This is so cool, and definitely has the vibe of those Frazetta stories. I wonder if any of that original art exists?
