Jim Balent's artwork hit it big right at the time of the bad girl craze and anyone who read comics back then can immediately identify his style. This same pin up style used for Spider-Woman gives her those sensuous features that put the character back on the map as she returned in New Avengers. Commissioned before the big reveal in Secret Invasion!

Always loved this piece! Thought it was done for the Pittsburgh Comicon , but could be mistaken.

You may be right. I saw this for sale a couple of times a few years back before I got it. At the time, I tried to find out its origin with no success, and the seller I bought it from didn't know. I was actually going to ask in the description when I posted this if anyone knew where it first came from. You may have solved the mystery for me.
