DescriptionCover dated January 2002.Since Elsa Bloodstone was recently introduced in the MCU as part of Werewolf By Night, I thought it was a good time to post this page from her miniseries. I bought this page from a dealer a few years ago, but it wasn’t my first choice. I had paid for a different piece, but I found out a few days later that what I bought wasn’t actually available. Since I had already paid, I agreed to a deal on a couple of substitute pieces. However, it turned out one of the substitute pages had also already been sold. So, I took this page as a substitute for the substitute. I’m glad that I did. As for the miniseries itself, it was great fun, although I didn’t buy it monthly as it was coming out. What I did instead was buy the complete miniseries off of eBay shortly after the series ended. Back in the early 2000s, I found that complete miniseries could be purchased on eBay shortly after the end of the series for much less than cover price, even after taking into account shipping costs. I have no idea if that’s still the case today since it’s been almost a decade since I’ve bought comics on eBay with any regularity. The art in this series was great, but I don’t recall Michael Lopez doing much comic book work after this book. I enjoyed the stuff he did here and at Wildstorm in the preceding years. I too liked Lopez' work during the time he was doing comics (what happened to him?).
(Also gotta love scaterbrain art dealers who can't manage to keep track of their inventory/update their websites in "real time" ;)

You're all hot and bothered for an early Elsa Bloodstone appearance when you've got a hunky, ski jacket waering Frankenstein splash panel?!?

The monster is way out of my league, so I won't let myself get worked up over it.

It’s the page that I got
The third pick of the lot
And I ain't so damn choosy
About substitute art
Got a brain a la carte
I dig the Lopez line
I ain't one of the crowd
I ain't Marty McFly
They just annoy me
They see my disguise
Adam’s colors too bright
Adam’s thighs set too wide?
I spent my whole life
Burning, turning
I'm an art page Frankenstein
I’m Elsa’s freak with the nutter mind
I'm an art page Frankenstein
These Hanna hands
Of these inks and lines

Sweet Frankenstein's monster panel! I like the surprised little Watchmen style happy face pin on his chest too.

Great time to post. I really liked the show (not sure if I am in the minorityon that, have not heard much feedback) and this is an Awesome page to coincide with the show!

VERY cool page, Michael! Love the design and flow here, and how the bottoms of the top three panels account for the action below them (which makes the whole top tier one big arrow pointing downwards at the splash). I actually never read this series, but as a big Elsa fan (particularly of her Nextwave appearances from this same era) I really should look those up! Thanks for pointing the way, Michael! :) A fun and exciting layout to your backup backup page (which time has correctly shown to be worthy of far more primary consideration)!
