Description

Rare case where I won a Hawkman piece at auction that I really didn't expect to win - put in a bid for half of what I thought it would go for in the June 2024 Heritage Signature auction and got lucky. :)

I can't recall Jim Starlin doing too many Hawkman appearances over the years, though Milgrom was the penciler on the first Hawkman comic I read (Showcase #101-103).

I think of this Hawkman Special as a "recent" comic and was surprised to realize it was released 16 years ago (from the time of this posting) - I guess less than two decades is "recent" for me when it comes to comics and music.

lol, I do the same with "new" comics & music, comes with getting older.

Starlin did an awesome Hawkman and this is a great example.! The main figure is killer! Really wish he had the opportunity to do more with the story but unfortunately, his reboot seemed to go nowhere. And congrats on an excellent hammer price.

Totally agree about that run with the Rann/Thanagar War and the special - just really kind of petered out. DC just has really not been able to get a handle on the character.
