DescriptionBatman: Holy Terror was the first title to bear the DC "Elseworlds" brand and logo when it was released in 1991 even though Batman: Gotham by Gaslight (1987) is considered to be the first Elseworlds story. This GN was the beginning of the Elseworlds era and was the first of many alternate universe stories to launch during the early '90s.Who better to launch this Elseworlds movement with an alternate version of Batman than the main Batman artist of the late '80s / early '90s, Norm Breyfogle? Classic Norm all over this page with the swooping bat images, shadow of the bat, and beautiful cityscape and architecture. I also love that the flag and religious symbolism are represented so heavily on this page since that is the focus of the story. Thanks Dan! Social/Sharing |

Oh man, those Batman images and that cityscape architecture! So cool! The shadow of the bat panel is my favorite. Great grab!

Some of Breyfogle's best works were for the elseworlds because people tend to take him for granted as the young artist out of that veteran heavy Batman artist roster. Here he is proving he can do illustration work as well as humor with the maid.

If you ever get tired of your current line of work, maybe look into 'architect'. You just love buildings and this is a great example. The action up top is not bad either!

Great pickup, Daryl! I even love the signature in the middle. Gotta love Breyfogle.

Trademark Breyfogle move. Gotta sign right in the middle of the page somewhere. I still remember reading multiple stories that had Norm's signature in the middle of published pages as well. I often think about that when reflecting back on Norm's Batman stories. Legend.

Oh wow! I absolutely LOVED this book growing up - this is a great splashy page with some fantastic action! Breyfogle is right up there with Stan in term of heroes who sign poorly.
