Description

Love the layout of this page - the large top panel creates a long pause as we wait to see if Joshua and Katya are saved. The last panel breaks the tension and is almost comical. The life preserver ring which was the focus of life or death in the prior pages is now a hat.

French collector buddy turned me on to this beautiful book about finding something you love, losing it, and then finding it again. While it's a book for young readers - about a girl and her bear - it's a lovely story for any age.

I love Jared's watercolors! I love the way he paces moments. I really love how his characters are designed with basic shapes, while the backdrops have a more painterly quality.

After reading the book I emailed with Jared, hoping there might be some examples left to purchase. He was kind with his time and in the end I ended up getting "many moments" that tell most of Katya's and Kodi's story.

Jared was recently nominated for two Eisner awards - (Best Publication for Early Readers and Best Painter/Multimedia Artist) for Kodi! Well deserved!!

Now Eisner nominated and winner of Reuben Divisional 2021 Award from National Cartoonists Society in the category of �Best Graphic Novel� for Kodi

That orange/gold of the boat against the purple of the ship just works so darn well. So beautiful! Congrats!

And I love that throughout the book, Katya's purple coat acts as a complimentary color against Kodi's yellow fur
