Description

Although I'd never done a commission before, when I saw a spot open up for James Stokoe I jumped at the chance. I love his work, particularly his creator owned Orc Stain and other projects from his blogs and art books.
I knew I had to request Swamp Thing.

I don't think I've ever seen him more swampy and plant like. Each part of him is so thoughtfully made up of various plants and fungus.

The detail. The detail. THE DETAIL!

The frogs and snail are a nice touch. And something about this pose invokes that famous Bigfoot photo, as if Swamp Thing was just captured strolling out of the muck by a stunned hiker.

Included is a process shot of the pencils...not going to lie, after I saw those I thought it was perfect and didn't see how inking could do anything but detract, but it's so so nice in person.

Over the moon with how this came out. Huge thanks to James!

Commission of the Year! I love James's work, but because I stopped doing commissions, I don't keep up with lists. Had I known he opened a list, I would've been all over that! Congratulations on receiving such a stellar piece!

The intricacy here is insane. Stokoe and Swamp Thing were an inspired combination. Congrats!
