Which piece in your gallery is your favorite and why?
Toss up between the Joe Madureira Uncanny X-Men spread with Xavier & Sabretooth or the Chris Bachalo Gen X splash. Both are artists on X-Men who were doing their best work in the time honored tradition of X-Artists setting a style of their own.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I think of myself as a younger collector, in my late 30’s, but been at it for a while. I collect based on what I read which is Marvel, X-Men & Spider-Man, and the great Vertigo series of the past, plus a lot of Image series. Still looking to build my collection. Still reading and discovering new books so I collect a bit of old and new.
How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?
It all seems to run together now, but I think I bought some $60 pages off eBay in my college years which made me realize you could buy this stuff. I Steve Skroce X-Man page and a Cary Nord Daredevil. That was around 2005, but started seriously collecting in the early 2010s.
How do you display/store your collection at home?
All Itoya portfolios which I enjoy being able to store easily and pull out to flip through often. Nothing framed and don’t think I’ll every have them, I enjoy looking through them and organizing like they’re pages in books.
What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?
My most wanted piece from when I started and still is a Chris Bachalo page from Generation X number 6 with Wolverine hugging Jubilee. I’ve been looking for its whereabout for years!
