DescriptionAmano is probably best known for his work on the Final Fantasy video game series. That's where I first encountered his work, and I've been a huge fan ever since. It's a bit surreal now to own a published Amano piece thanks to a good friend. This piece is from an indie comic published by BOOM! My understanding is Amano's work in the book is a collection of pieces he did in the late 90's which were then compiled and a story written for them for the comic's 2006 release. I hope that vintage is correct as that would place this piece's creation right in the heyday of Final Fantasy. Arguably the most popular game in the series, Final Fantasy VII, was released in 1997. I'd love to know any additional background on this piece and the HERO comic is anyone is familiar with it. Owning an Amano was a bucket list item since I started collecting art. Thrilled to have accomplished that goal. Based on the story, it's very unclear what this piece is meant to be of. I think it shines as an example of Amano's use of color and surrealism to depict the fantastical. Published: January 1, 2006 Social/Sharing |

Beautiful earth tones in this piece. And to think the book is chock full of these paintings.

Amano's legendary career crosses over video games, anime, comics, fantasy illustation and more. Any project he works on is worthy of our attention and Hero is certainly one of them with his work that took him 10 years to complete. I can say that waiting for 10 years is a very long time.
