Description"Masquerade" Preliminary Original Art. Opaque watercolor and silver paint on illustration board by Olivia De Berardinis. With an image area of 4.5" x 17". Signed and dated next to the image. 1986.From her "Masquerade" period, this was a starting study piece for Olivia to work out some color/pose/layout ideas before starting the larger work. I got into some other non comic book types of art and this one was added into the collection during that experimentation period. Happy to have an Olivia! Congratulations on your Olivia painting. The 80s and early 90s period pieces are certainly gems to find and these early pieces are very coveted by collectors. A beauty.

Most experimented with drugs, but only you had the foresight to experiment with original illustration art. Cool! I love the costume. Olivia was MASSIVE during the 80's and into the 90's, so it's alway fun to see her pieces from that period.

Does cat walk? Does she talk?
Does she come complete?
My prelim, prelim angel
All the posts that bring the heat
She was pure masquerade
This one could entertain
So feathery and so tasteful
Could never cause me pain
Years go by I'm lookin' through a fashion magazine
And there's my prelim angel on the pages in-between
The style runs bold
It's Olivia, I've just been sold
My Kavi has a centerfold
Kavi got a centerfold
My lace runs cold
This Olivia has just me sold

Beautiful! I've been a fan of Olivia's work since I first saw it in a certain magazine that I was legally too young to own at the time.

great get, Kavi. reminds me of kubrick's masquerade scene in "eyes wide shut", with chris isaac's "baby did a bad thing" track
