DescriptionCover dated January 1984. Assistant Editors’ Month!Upon the death of his herald, Nova, a weakened Galactus travels to Earth in search of sustenance. Failing to locate Reed Richards, Galactus instead comes into contact with Richards’ young son, Franklin, who was in the care of May Parker, the aunt of Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man. When Galactus attempts to make Franklin his new herald, Mrs. Parker intervenes, only to find herself transformed into Golden Oldie, the newest wielder of the power cosmic! It was now time for Galactus to feast, but before the purple giant can start consuming a planet, young Franklin introduces the only survivor of the big bang to Hostess Twinkies (changed here to Twinkles for legal purposes). Galactus finds himself craving more Twinkles, so Golden Oldie is set to task to find them. After eating all of the Twinkles on Earth, Galactus demands more, so Golden Oldie finds for him planet-sized Twinkles floating in space that were prepared by the Creator, who looks a lot like the Pillsbury Doughboy. The Creator’s creation satisfies Galactus’ hunger, but he returns to Earth to look for a glass of milk. Truly the greatest Galactus story every told. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a dream in the end. I think the writers of “Dallas” were inspired by this ending when they had Pamela Ewing dream away Bobby’s death two years later. At any rate, I am honored and humbled to be the caretaker of a page from this classic story. Social/Sharing |

Galactus Must Feed...on Twinkles. Super clever name change there, Marvel. No one will ever know!! Heh, this was a great story. Another great 80s Marvel conceit. I dig these kind of issues. Congrats!

Silver May might have been the most important Marvel hero invention of them all, long before even Squirrel Girl came in ! This story clearly should be done as a MCU film in the newt wave of mtheir movies !

I need to get my hands on this issue! I haven't read it and I already recognize how quirky this page is and how lucky you are to have one. Who would've thunk that the greatest Galactus story ever told was an allegory for America's addiction to processed foods and refined sugars?!
